The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has the dual responsibilities of managing the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) – and being a private club managing a 150,000 strong membership base that also has 14 sports represented under the club’s banner. The oldest of these is cricket, upon which the Club was founded in 1838.
At our heart, the MCC is a sporting club. Our sports strive to compete at the highest level, while at the same time remaining inclusive and enjoyable spaces for sport lovers of all ages and abilities.
Along with the playing of cricket, today’s MCC is an umbrella organisation for thousands of participants across multiple sporting sections.
With our commitment to supporting and growing cricket, we have an excellent opportunity for an MCC Cricket Coordinator. Reporting to the MCC Cricket Manager, the job goal for this role is to proactively provide professional administration and support duties for MCC Cricket, in particular, the operations of the Club’s Men’s and Women’s Premier teams and Club XI teams. This role will also provide timely and accurate communication to all key stakeholders, ensuring strong positive working relationships are developed and maintained at all levels from the senior managers to volunteers.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the MCC Cricket Manager in coordinating meetings, writing communications, ordering apparel, executing email campaigns, organising functions, maintaining databases, financial reporting, and other administrative tasks.
Given the nature of this role, you will be required to work outside of standard weekday hours regularly so please note that flexibility is essential.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Experience working a similar role with deep knowledge of cricket, rules and club life
- Tertiary qualifications in Sport Management or similar field preferred.
- Relevant experience liaising with Club representatives, cricket/sport stakeholders and cricket/sport bodies.
- Strong organisational skills, with demonstrated experience planning for and coordinating multiple projects or events simultaneously.
- Strong administration skills with excellent attention to detail and strong task completion.
- Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office – particularly, word, power point, outlook, and intermediate excel) and the ability to pick up new programs quickly.
- Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A high degree of diplomacy and ability to treat information confidentially when required.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills – self motivator.
- A capability to manage budgets and an aptitude for basic financial reporting and analysis.
- Ability to manage projects with limited supervision, be proactive, innovate and think “outside the square”.
- Excellent customer service and people skills.
- Ability to problem solve efficiently and courteously.
- Demonstrates commitment to MCC values.
- Consistently demonstrates the customer service CARE habits in all customer interactions.
